Protect an ugly fish
We all know that photogenic sea creatures like dolphins, whales and turtles need protecting, but at Greenpeace we don’t discriminate based on looks. There are countless species of fish in the seas that wouldn’t make the front of a postcard, but are still critically endangered, and we are working to protect them all.
How this gift works ...
Our seas and oceans used to be teeming with fish and other sea creatures, but decades of destructive fishing practices and overfishing have led to stocks of fish declining and many species facing extinction. Greenpeace is campaigning for 40 percent of the world’s oceans to be designated as marine reserves, like underwater national parks. These designated areas, where no fishing is allowed, will enable oceans to recover and protect all species of sea creatures, attractive or otherwise.
