Research at the frontier of climate change

Navigation charts for the Arctic

Taking our ship, the Arctic Sunrise, to the furthest reaches of the Northern hemisphere, means we can witness first hand the effects of climate change on glaciers, ice shelves and polar bears. Navigation charts are crucial to help us get there, and of course back again, safely.

How this gift works ...

Temperatures in the Arctic are rising twice as fast as other parts of the world, so it provides an important early warning system when it comes to monitoring the effects of climate change. Expeditions to this remote and dangerous environment allow us to bear witness to the actual effects of climate change on the ground, as well as enabling vital scientific measurements to be made which can provide up to date evidence for models of climate change.
