Make sure we are able to stay in touch with each other and guarantee security when we’re out on actions. Mobile phones are needed to enable the co-ordinators, team leaders and activists to maintain contact at all times, and also to give media interviews from the heart of the action.

Non-violent direct actions are a key part of all Greenpeace’s campaigns, getting the message across to governments or corporations who are committing environmental crimes. Keeping communication channels open between the activists at the centre of the action and those on the ground is vital, and mobile phones are a great way to do this. They also mean journalists can speak directly to the activists, increasing media coverage.
