Install solar panels in Africa

Installing solar panels in countries like Kenya makes sense in so many ways. People there are on the front line when it comes to the effects of climate change, and many of them are also in need of affordable electricity. Solar panels provide inexpensive, clean electricity to help fight climate change and strengthen the economy.

How this gift works ...

Greenpeace's Solar Generation project involves young people around the world in projects to promote solar power and call for a low carbon future. In 2009, with the help of Kibera Community Youth Programme, we installed solar panels on the roof of Mama Sara Obama, the US President's grandmother, as well as a local school. Local Kenyans were trained in installation techniques and now many homes in the area will have access to clean, reliable sources of electricity.
