Document glacial melting

Arctic camera

Glacial melting in the Arctic is a key indicator of the effects of climate change. Remote cameras can be mounted on helicopters or kayaks and allow us to take pictures of glaciers to document its rate of melting and movement. GPS in the cameras also means we can pinpoint the exact location the picture was taken.

How this gift works ...

Temperatures in the Arctic are rising twice as fast as other parts of the world, so it provides an important early warning system when it comes to monitoring the effects of climate change. Expeditions to this remote and difficult environment allow us to bear witness to the actual effects of climate change on the ground, as well as enabling vital scientific measurements to be made which can provide up to date evidence for models of climate change. Remote cameras mean we can take photographs from helicopters and kayaks of places unreachable by foot.
